BerthDesk — Remote Desktops (RDP · VNC) for macOS
Check that Remote Desktop is enabled on the Windows side (Settings › System › Remote Desktop) and that the edition supports it — Windows Home has no Remote Desktop server. The default port is 3389; if the PC is behind a router, that port must be forwarded. BerthDesk uses NLA, so the account needs a password.
Turn on System Settings › General › Sharing › Screen Sharing on the remote Mac, then add it in BerthDesk as a VNC server with that Mac's account name and password. Port 5900 is the default. See the guide.
Most VNC servers authenticate with a single password and no user name, so leave the user empty. macOS Screen Sharing is the exception: it takes the Mac account's name and password.
That is the TLS fingerprint of a VNC server BerthDesk has not seen before, or one whose certificate changed. On a first connection, compare it with the server if you can and confirm. If a server you already trusted suddenly shows a different fingerprint, do not confirm unless you know the server was reinstalled — BerthDesk stops before sending your password for exactly this reason.
The server has not enabled dynamic resolution (DisplayControl for RDP, SetDesktopSize for VNC). BerthDesk then scales the remote screen to fit the window instead. You can also pick a fixed resolution in the server's settings.
Intel Macs and older macOS versions serve third-party VNC clients only over a legacy path whose update rate the server decides; other VNC clients on that path are just as fast. A smaller window or lower remote resolution helps. A high-performance mode for Apple silicon Macs on macOS 14+ is planned for a later update.
BerthDesk draws the remote cursor locally and, by default, scales it with the screen. The setting "Scale remote cursor with the screen" in the server's settings turns that on or off. If the server does not send cursor shapes at all, the cursor is drawn into the remote image by the server itself.
They should — while the remote screen has focus, ⌃ and ⌥ combinations go to the remote as Ctrl and Alt. Click the remote screen once to give it focus. Combinations with ⌘ are the app's own and are never sent.
With the right ⌥ key — it is sent as the language-toggle key (Korean/English on a Korean Windows keyboard). The remote's input method decides the rest; the Mac's input source does not matter. Over VNC the right ⌘ is the Hanja key. Some VNC servers (TightVNC, for one) do not pass Hanja on to Windows; UltraVNC, TigerVNC or RDP do.
First check that Clipboard sharing is on for that server. On macOS Sequoia and later, the first time BerthDesk reads something another app copied, macOS shows a paste-permission prompt — allow it once. If a single item does not cross over, Session › Send clipboard to remote (⌘⇧V) pushes it.

Passwords are kept only in the macOS Keychain. The settings file and the exported server list never contain them.
The offline installer (DMG) checks for updates on its own and offers to install them. The App Store version is updated through the App Store.

BerthDesk는 원격 커서를 로컬에서 그리고, 기본으로 화면과 함께 줄입니다. 서버 설정의 "원격 커서를 화면 배율에 맞춤"이 그 스위치입니다. 서버가 커서 모양을 아예 보내지 않으면 서버가 원격 그림 안에 커서를 직접 그립니다.
